Julian Haylock in „The Strad “ – December 2008

Irnberger returns with the highly distinguished Schumann exponent
Jörg Demus (here playing a glorious 1868 Hammerflügel) in an
album featuring Schumann's two published violin sonatas alongside
the op.73  Fantasie-Stücke and Intermezzo from the 'FAE' Sonata,
with the Brahms c-minor Scherzo thrown in for good measure
  (Gramola 98832).
lmberger's plangently expressive tone and gentle interpretative
spirit again work wonders in aerating textures that in less sensitive
hands are often hammered home relentlessly.
Using an endlessly subtle range of speed and length of bow stroke,
lrnberger imparts an exquisitely vocal quality to his phrasing.
